Siphiwe Mahlalela, 22, came from Swaziland to South Africa to find work.
A 29-year-old woman Deliwe Khoza gave her shelter and apparently seemed eager to help.
"I went to live with her, but in January she said I must pay her back." said Siphiwe.
"She said South African men lust after sexy, beautiful women and I should use my good looks to sleep with men."
Siphiwe said she was forced to have sex with men over weekends and expected to work during the week for R500 a month.
"The men were old. They refused to use protection," she said.
She fled to a neighbour’s house but was in for another shock.
A man warned her he and two friends had been hired to kill her.
He told her to leave, but when she went to get her things Deliwe allegedly attacked her with a knife.
Jabu Khoza, 34, Deliwe’s neighbour said she stopped residents from helping Siphiwe as she lay on the ground and threatened neighbours who wanted to call an ambulance.
"I think she wanted the poor girl to die," he said.
"I forced my way in and took Siphiwe to hospital."
Deliwe said Siphiwe slept with the men willingly.
"I never benefited from this woman’s whoring. I stabbed her because she was saying bad things about me."
Sergeant Gerald Sedibe said a case of assault has been opened.
