A 60-year-old man left fighting for his life following an apparent trolley rage incident in a supermarket before Christmas has died.
Michael Buckley, 60, who was struck with a shopping trolley and knocked to the ground during an altercation at a branch of Marks & Spencer in Bromley, Kent, on December 22 has died.
Police revealed that Mr Buckley, who is thought to be from the Forest Hill area, passed away on Tuesday.
He had been taken to hospital but a few days after the incident suffered complications and was left in a critical condition.
A post mortem has taken place but further medical examination to establish the cause of death is still taking place.
Officers from the Metropolitan Police Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
It is understood that the man, aged 60, was struck with a trolley being pushed by a woman. He fell to the ground and sustained injuries including a broken hip and wrist, and was taken to a Kent hospital for treatment.
Staff at M & S had said the woman appeared to have launched the attack because the man had failed to get out of her way fast enough.
The altercation happened while the man shopped in The Glades shopping centre in Bromley High Street
One M & S employee said the victim was left sprawled on the floor in agony after what appears to have been a ‘moment of madness’.
He said: ‘She just seems to have rammed into him. It is everyone’s nightmare. We have seen it so many times in the food hall, people are just so impatient these days.’
A 30-year-old woman was arrested on December 26 on suspicion of GBH. She has been bailed to return on March 26 pending further investigation.
