A man's attempt to stop a fight between two drunkards has cost a man his life!
It's alleged that three friends were fighting after a drinking spree on Friday when an unknown man approached them and tried to stop them.
The friends allegedly stopped fighting and assaulted the man, who died on the scene.
His body was dumped under a bridge.
The incident happened at Itsani Village outside Thohoyandou, Limpopo, South Africa.
Major Mashudu Malelo told Daily Sun the unknown man is believed to be Zimbabwean.
"The deceased was found by a passerby under the small bridge that connects Shayandima to Itsani," said Malelo.
"The suspects vented their anger on him and attacked him with blunt objects."
Resident Takkie Madi said the area where the body was found was a crime hot spot.
"Last weekend, we heard the cries of a man who was being attacked in the early hours of the morning," said Takkie.
"The crying man was shouting that he was being killed, but when I got outside, the attackers were gone.
"If we strengthen our community policing structures, we will be able to fight these criminals."
Malelo said three suspects aged 22, 25 and 27 have been arrested in connection with the murder.
They appeared briefly in the Thohoyandou Magistrates Court on Monday.
The case was remanded until tomorrow for further investigation.
