For months, people could see Gloria was pregnant as her stomach grew and grew but after she gave birth last Monday, the baby disappeared!
And when her neighbours demanded to know what had happened to her baby, she confessed to burying it.
But she insisted that the baby was already dead.
"I threw my baby in the pit toilet," said Gloria Mashabela (23) from Marius squatter camp in Haartebeestpoort, North West.
Her neighbours called cops and she was arrested. Police dug out the body of the newborn baby.
But Gloria was back at her shack the next day!
Community leader Dipuo Montshiwa said they won't allow Gloria to live with them.
"This is not the first time this woman has done this," she said.
"How can they release her with so much evidence? If they don't do their work we will take the law into our own hands," Dipuo said.
Neighbour Patricia Mhlongo said the first time it happened, cops told them to produce evidence. "We left it then but now she has done it again. We can't allow a person like this to live here. She must leave," she said.
On Friday, cops stopped the angry neighbours from destroying Gloria's shack.
Another neighbour, Khethani Sithole, told Daily Sun that she helped Gloria give birth.
"The baby was alive and healthy," Khethani said.
But Gloria insisted: "I gave birth but the baby died. I wasn't sure what to do with it."
Her boyfriend, Andries Ngobeni, said: "We didn't know what to do. Gloria suggested we throw the baby into the toilet and I agreed."
Constable Jasper Lelaka said the case had been withdrawn pending further investigation.
"The autopsy will reveal what happened to the baby," he said.
