A brother and sister in KwaFelekisi, on the KZN south coast, SA, are fighting over their family home.
Vusi Mkhize (50) wants his 40-year-old sister Zamambo to get married so he can have the house to himself.
But Zamambo claims she built the six-room house five years ago for her mum and siblings.
After their mum died last year, Zamambo and Vusi started fighting over the house.
She told Daily Sun she spent all the money she earned as a domestic worker to build it.
"Vusi has always been unemployed and he didn't care for the family or rescue them from shack life.
"I did that. When our mum died, Vusi started attacking me and telling me to find a man.
"He said everything here including the land and the house, was his because he is the eldest.
"He has cut the electricity and water. He has beaten me and thrown my clothes out to get me to leave. The family has tried to intervene but nothing helps," she said.
Zamambo said on two occasions, Vusi has tried to sell the site where the house is built, but failed.
"Last Friday, he sold a piece of our yard to people who have started digging already.
"I fear for my life and I don't know what to do any more," she said.
She said she would only leave the house if Vusi bought it from her.
Vusi confirmed that he wants his sister out of the house.
"She sets a bad example by living at home at her age. Why doesn't she get married and leave me in peace? As the eldest sibling, this land belongs to me," he said.
Jiba Maphumulo, the headman, said Zamambo has a right to stay in her house. He said the problem was that her parents registered the title deed in Vusi's name.
He advised Zamambo to open a case with the police.
