THORNHILL Primary School head in Gutu, James Munyaradzi who has been transferred to another school, is reportedly refusing to leave the school citing unpaid transport allowance.
Munyaradzi was put on a forced transfer a fortnight ago after scores of parents raised concern over poor Grade Seven results but has said he can only leave after being paid $170,00 which he claims is due to him.
He argues that the school owes him a lot of money in unpaid sitting allowances and transport but only chose to claim $170.
According to a member of the School Development Committee(SDC) Munyaradzi is refusing to leave the school premises over "petty" issues and called on the responsible authority to take action so that the new head can be allowed to run the school without disturbances.
"We are surprised he is still here. Something must be done because he is causing a lot of confusion at the school," said an SDC member who preferred anonymity.
SDC secretary Charles Nyoni, confirmed that Munyaradzi was still at school despite being transferred.
"I can confirm that Munyaradzi is still at the school but he has since stopped going to the head's office since there is a new head.
"On the issue of his transport money that the school owes, we discussed the issue and resolved that he will be paid later," said Nyoni.
Contacted for comment Gutu District Education Officer Sonnie Chirikure confirmed that Munyaradzi was removed from the Thornhill and transferred to another school.
Chirikure said Munyaradzi was initially relieved of the duties of the school head and told to resort to classroom duties.
"We firstly ordered him to step down as school head after receiving complaints from parents but when we learnt that parents no-longer want him, we transferred him," he said.
He said Munyaradzi was transferred to Nyashenje Primary as an ordinary teacher.
