Mutare-based United Family International Church (UFIC) pastor, Jacob Tembo on Sunday confirmed that the pictures and story published in Hmetro two weeks ago WAS TRUE!
He however, said the events took place before he became a UFI pastor and did not take place this year as claimed. In fact, Pastor Tembo said HE DID WORSE THINGS than what his former girlfriend, Cynthia Shungu Tapera said.
Giving a 15-20 minute testimony during the UFI's morning service at City Sports Centre, Pastor Tembo said he is now reformed and even his wife was not moved by the article as she now knows all his movements. The Pastor said there was a time in his marriage that the word LOVE had no meaning as he was a ladies man. He claimed that he had many mobile phone lines which he would use depending on where he was at that particular time.
For instance, when at home, he would use a line that his MANY GIRLFRIENDS were not aware of. On the issue of the money that he was alleged to have stolen from his former employer, Pastor Tembo said he had STOLEN A HUGE AMOUNT. Most of the money was splashed on the girlfriends.
Explaining how UFI leader, Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa changed his life, Pastor Tembo said he would have either died or be in prison right now. He would have been in prison because of the money he stole from his former employer and he might have died as he contemplated committing suicid
Pastor Tembo said he at one time booked himself in a hotel and put a "Do Not Disturb" sign on his door as he wanted to drink poison. He had even switched off his phone but when he decided to switch it on, the first message to get through was from Prophet Makandiwa. In the message, Prophet Makandiwa was advising Pastor Tembo against committing suicide. That is how he abandoned the idea. Prophet Makandiwa then got Tembo to reform and be a pastor. Pastor Tembo said the Hmetro story did not affect his work as he was in charge of the Sunday service that followed the article.
UFI services are split into two - the morning session from between 8am and 12 midday for those who are married and then the afternoon session from 2pm to 5pm for the youths.
Meanwhile, the Civil court recently ordered Pastor Tembo to pay US$550 for the upkeep of the child sired out of wedlock with Cynthia. Pastor Tembo was ordered to start paying the amount from this month-end. Cynthia was claiming a staggering US$2,306 from the man of God. She was arguing that Pastor Tembo was earning about US$20,000 from his job. She claimed that Pastor Tembo has been affording to give her US$1,000 per month since February 2010 and therefore was in a position to afford her claim. In her claim, Cynthia wanted US$875 for rentals, US$375 for pre-school and about US$170 for holidays among other needs.
Through his lawyer, Pastor Tembo had offered to pay US$400 arguing that he was earning US$841 and he is married with four other children. The lawyer argued that part of Cynthia's claims were meant for her personal gains and not for the support of the child.
Magistrate Vongai Muchuchuti presided over the case.
Meanwhile, some sources still vehemently denying Pastor Tembo's claims that his photos with Cynthia were taken long back. Both Cynthia and other sources who were cl;ose to the two are claiming that Cynthia and Pastor Tembo broke up last month.
"Pastor Tembo is lying. They broke up with Cynthia last month. To prove that they broke up last month, Cythia dragged him to court recently, because all along they were still in love," said a source who spoke on condition of anonimity.
