Sometime ago, a widow from Svisvi village, Gokwe, was allegedly forced to sleep with her husband's corpse before the burial.
The woman identified as Sarah Simirayi, reportedly left her 68-year-old husband, Nunurayi Musamo, for a heavy truck driver sometime two years ago, and returned when her boyfriend ditched her for another new lover.
Sarah's husband died a few weeks after her return.
Musamo left a note that he wanted read at his funeral, and that letter contained a message that he died of missing his beloved wife and also that he would need to make love to her before burial.
A source close to the family said, "The family found the dead man's wish weird and they invited a traditional healer to do some ritual before his burial because it is believed that a dead man's word should be followed to avoid bad omen in the family," said the source.
Musamo's brother confirmed the reports, but refused to divulge information saying, "The issue you are talking about is a very serious one and as a family we are still trying to appease our late brother's spirit. Sorry I cannot discuss that with you."
The shocking message was delivered to Sarah who tried to resist, but later accepted the task.
A close relative said after they opened the coffin, Sarah slept with her late husband's corpse in the view of his two sisters, who were ululating, as a gesture of appeasing the spirit of the late Musamo.
