The body of a missing 12-year-old Missouri girl was found Wednesday, local media reports.
Bobby Bourne Jr., 34, of Lamar, has been charged with kidnapping Adriaunna Horton following her disappearance after her first day of school Monday.
She was last seen getting into an SUV thought to be Bourne's about 5 p.m. at Hazel Park in Golden City.
Citing witnesses' accounts, Adriaunna's father, James Horton, said that Bourne lured Adriaunna into his vehicle by pretending to need help looking for his little girl.
"He was whining he couldn't find his daughter. He had a missing child. He asked the girls in the park to help him," Horton told ABC-affiliate KODE. "My oldest daughter walked up to his vehicle — that's when she was abducted."
Ninety minutes later, police stopped a vehicle fitting the description provided by witnesses and arrested Bourne.
The Hortons lived near the suspect, and James even provided him with employment, according to the local station.
"He worked for me last summer on a job, a construction job," Horton said. "He was a neighbour. He lived less than a block behind us for a year."
The search effort included a patrol helicopter, ATVs, horses and dogs, reported ABC News.
"I love ya' and want you home," Horton said, crying before they found her body.
Local station KSPR reported on the discovery Wednesday shortly after 3 p.m.
Bourne is being held in the Barton County Jail. His bond is set at $1 million.
