Police are investigating after the mother of a child with autism received a hate-speech filled letter from another mother, which amongst other things, said that she should "do the right thing" and euthanize her son, according to CNN.
A picture of the appalling letter has been shared thousands of times on the social network Twitter, collecting vocal outrage and support for families whose children have autism spectrum disorders.
The shocking text includes such horrors as:
"That noise he makes when he is outside is DREADFUL! Its (sic) scares the hell out of my normal children!!!!!
When you feel your idiot kid needs fresh air, take him to our park you dope!
They should take whatever non retarded body parts (sic) he possesses and donate it to science.
I HATE people like you who belive that just because you have a special needs kid, you are entitled to special treatment!!! GOD!!!!!
Go live in a trailer in the woods or something with your wild animal kid…
Do the right thing and move or euthanize him!"
The child who is the subject of the hatred is 13-year-old Max, and the letter was delivered to his grandmother's house.
Max's mum has multiple sclerosis, so his granny often looks after him during the day.
Max's dad suggests that even if the contents of the letter aren't criminal, he's particularly concerned that an individual could be directing so much hatred towards his family.
