Thokozile Menziwa (63) and Mfana "Mkhulu" Menziwa (65) from Waterloo, north of Durban, say they are tired of people judging them and saying they live a sinful life before God.
The two ladies have been married since 2000 and Thokozile said being gay or a lesbian is not a sin in the eyes of God.
She said they are discriminated against because of their sexual orientation.
She said some people give them nasty stares when they see them holding hands or kissing.
"God made us this way. The book of Romans9:20-22 says: 'Who do you think you are to question God? Does the clay have a right to ask the potter why he shaped it the way he did? Doesn't a potter have a right to make a fancy bowl and a plain bowl out of the same lump of clay?' We did not choose to be lesbians. People should stop judging us because there is only one judge: Jesus.
"We pray every day, calling upon Jesus. If we had demons, we would not be praying in Jesus's name," she said.
Thokozile said she regretted the years she spent trying to be someone she was not because she feared people would not accept her if she were to be open about being a lesbian.
"I was once married to a man. I had three kids from that fake marriage. I gave birth because I'm a woman and not because I was in love. Mkhulu does not have any kids. She is actually a man inside. She has all that other men have. It's a pity that I can't undress her for you to see what I'm talking about. She is taking good care of all my needs as a woman. I am so blessed to have her," she said.
Mkhulu doesn't cook because she is the "man of the house".
"We respect each other's roles. As the man of this house, Mkhulu does not cook.
"When I see something that scares me, I call her. She protects me," Thokozile said.
Mkhulu said respect was the key to building a successful marriage.
"Couples should love and respect each other all the time," Mkhulu said.
The two pensioners are members of Victory Ministries, which is under the leadership of Pastor Zenzi Zungu, who is also a lesbian.
Pastor Zungu said: "Oh yes, Thokozile and Mkhulu Menziwa are indeed my children in Christ.
"They love God so much!"
