Angry residents beat up and strip naked gang accused of robbery and abduction

Angry residents allegedly beat members of a gang they accused of being robbers and abductors.
They managed to beat up a man and two women while six other suspects reportedly escaped.
The suspects were saved by the police but not before they were stripped of their clothes.
A man is reported to have been assaulted by the mob after handing the two females some clothes.
It is alleged that the gang of nine, which was travelling in a commuter omnibus, picked up their victim at Machipisa Shopping Centre in Highfield, Zimbabwe.
Along the way, the gang allegedly robbed the 22 year old of US$200 and a cell phone.
The victim is understood to have identified the gang a few hours later in Rugare suburb where he confronted them leading to their apprehension by residents.
Other angry residents suspected that the gang was also responsible for raping and killing people in their area.
The police said they have received various reports of armed robbers who are pouncing on residents and robbing them of valuables. - zbc
