A 25-year-old woman in Rajasthan in India committed suicide after being raped by a witch doctor.

The accused has been arrest.

According to police, the incident occurred at Pahari village of Jaipur district, some 150km from here.

A senior police officer told IANS, "The victim had approached Mamraj Kumar who claimed to be witch doctor and capable of treating infertility."

The victim did not have a child since her marriage seven years ago, the officer said.

"Mamraj drugged the woman when she came for treatment yesterday (Monday) and raped her. Feeling humiliated, the woman told the family members about what had happened and later jumped into a well," said the officer.

Her body was taken out of the well late Monday night, the officer said.

The witch doctor was arrested Tuesday after the family members lodged a first information report (FIR) against him, he added.
