A still-unidentified man has lost both legs after falling into a tire shredder while at work at ABC Tire Recycling near downtown Kansas City, US.
Missouri factory workers could only watch in horror as their friend was sucked into an industrial tire shredder and lost both his legs.
The man is believed to have been cleaning the device at ABC Tire Recycling in Kansas City, when it suddenly powered up and he fell in.
Trapped in the machine, which is designed to rip large truck tires to pieces within a matter of seconds, two of his main arteries were severed.
Rescue crews arrived at the scene of the accident at 10 a.m. Monday, to find he'd been pulled out of the shredder.
Despite losing both of his legs, a Kansas City Fire Department spokesman said he had survived and been taken to a hospital.
His current condition, however, has not been revealed.
An investigation has been launched by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
