Men accused of assaulting Dylan Simbarashe of Chitungwiza, Zimbabwe while he was waiting for his girlfriend outside as she took a bath and accused him of being a thief have appeared in court.
Lawrence Kasinganeti, 41, the girl's father was jointly charged with Gabriel Tandi, 18, Charles Mutake, 59, and Zvikombororero Tani, 19.
The man allegedly teamed up with the three men and seriously assaulted his daughter’s 22-year-old boyfriend accusing him of being a thief has appeared in court.
They denied three counts of assault, kidnapping and theft when they appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Mr Lazarus Murendo.
On February 15, and at around 7pm, Simbarashe visited his girlfriend at her home in Unit K.
On arrival, he waited outside the bathroom while she took a bath.
During this time, it is alleged that Tandi, Mutake and Zvikomborero surrounded and grabbed him.
They started accusing him of being a thief and took turns to assault and lead him into Kasinganeti’s house.
They called Kasinganeti who was away and informed him that they had apprehended a thief at his place.
On arrival, they informed him that he was the one who was dating his daughter.
This angered Kasinganeti who floored the helpless Simbarashe with blows and a baton stick and wooden stick that he handed to the other three.
They took turns to assault him and it is alleged that Simbarashe lost a cellphone and US$5 during the incident.
His friend’s attempt to rescue him was fruitless as the enraged men charged at him.
