A learner driver in SA apparently lost control of a taxi she was driving and crashed into a house.
Witness Themba Makula (34) said immediately after the vehicle crashed into the house, a woman jumped out of the driver’s seat and ran.
“Then the man from the passenger seat jumped quickly into the driver’s seat and reversed the car out of the house,” Themba said.
Themba said the taxi was driven right into tenant Vincent Mashiatshidi’s room and he was screaming for help.
“He was trapped under the bricks that had fallen on top of him,” Themba said.
A woman in another room was also injured.
Another tenant, Leonard Bopape, said he couldn’t get out of his room because the taxi was blocking his door.
Ekurhuleni Metro Police spokesman, Inspector Kobeli Mokheseng, said: “When officers arrived at the scene, the man claimed he had been driving. He said he took the bend and lost control.”
Mokheseng said no case was opened because the tenants didn’t suffer serious injuries.
