Two small children aged two and four were forced to watch as three men repeatedly gang raped their mother, their grandmother and a tenant.
The horrorific events started when Dina Masuku, 62 and her daughter Phumzile Masuku, 26, a school teacher, were watching TV.
Three men forced their 19-year-old tenant to let them into the house in Emaphupheni section in Etwatwa, Daveyton, South Africa at around 8pm on Saturday night.
On Sunday morning, just before sunrise, the men tied up the two women and suffocated them by covering their heads in plastic bags taped to their necks.
The teenage tenant managed to escape to call the cops.
A 31-year-old suspect has been arrested – the other two are still on the run.
Colonel Lungelo Dlamini, Gauteng provincial spokesman for the SAPS, said yesterday they had launched a manhunt for the two men. “We expect to make a breakthrough soon,” he said.
Dlamini said a Volvo belonging to Phumzile’s boyfriend which was stolen from the yard was found in KwaThema.
The tenant was blindfolded and locked in the back room of the yard.
She managed to untie herself and escape through a window.
Dlamini said their cellphones were stolen, with the car.
“At this stage we are investigating a case of murder, rape and house robbery. We are following several leads,” said Dlamini.
A relative, Victor Masuku, told Daily Sun: “The gogo and her daughter, including their small kids, lived in peace. We don’t think they had any enemies.”
Masuku said he saw them on Saturday night. “The women and the children were all fine,” he said.
The children have been taken to the house of a relative.
