Primary school teacher commits suicide after testing HIV positive

A 27-year-old Malawi primary school teacher committed suicide after testing HIV positive.
Mzimba police officer in charge Joseph Chambuluka confirmed the development in an interview on Thursday.
Chambuluka said the deceased, Augustine Mahima committed suicide in his own bedroom on 5 March after coming from Mzimba district hospital where he tested HIV positive.
The deceased went to Mzimba district hospital for diagnosis where he also under went HIV testing. Test results showed that he was HIV positive and he could not contain this status hence he committed suicide," said Chambuluka.
Chambuluka said postmortem results showed that the deceased died of suffocation due to strangulation.
