Wedding cake designer Donna Millington-Day, dubbed the fairy godmother of wedding cakes has designed a six-foot edible bridal gown made from 17 tiers of sponge cake, 22 kilos of sugar paste icing, 2lb of royal icing and hundreds of sugar pearls and would cater for over 2000 wedding guests.
The adventurous baker was inspired by her daughter's drawing of a giant wedding dress cake.
Hannah, six, was designing wedding cakes for her mum's Fairytale Cake shop in Staffordshire when she came up with the idea to create a life size wedding dress completely from cake.
Mrs Millington-Day decided to rise to the challenge and one week later the stunning ivory dress heavily embellished with iced flowers and weighing in at 25 kilos was finished.
She said: "We chose to make a satin, lace and pearl simple yet intricate design with roses and drapes. The satin finish was achieved using a pearl lustre and each swirl was hand piped to make the dress look as authentic as possible."
The wedding dress cake is being unveiled at the National Wedding Show in Birmingham.
