Antony Manombe Ncube decided to resort to violence after failing to come to terms with the end of his relationship.
He beat his 26 year old ex-lover Rumbidzai Mafuta of 4376 Emganinwi, Zimbabwe last Saturday at midnight outside her residence.
Ncube, who is the second eldest child of Emganinwi Senator Siphiwe Ncube, acted in fragrant violation of a protection order, which his ex-lover had obtained on 22 November 2012.
The order bars him from using obscene language and threatening violence to her.
Mafuta had gotten the protection order after countless assaults by her then boyfriend who boasted that no-one would arrest him as his mother was a senior politician with the Movement for Democratic Change formation led by Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai.
According to Mafuta’s account, on Saturday last week – Ncube phoned her and the two agreed to meet.
Ncube is said to have started pleading for reconciliation but was angered when she vehemently snubbed him.
He then brought up allegations that she was a prostitute and then started beating and kicking her.
“He has always been beating me, that is why I got a protection order against him. He said he cannot be arrested because his mother is a senator,’ said Mafuta.
During the fracas, a neighbor intervened and stopped Ncube who was rowdy and apparently saying: “When I get angry I smell like an ass, I can do anything to anyone, dare call the police and you will see my true colors.'
Mafuta’s mother and sister Esther came to the scene after she had phoned them.
Upon arrival, they were verbally abused by the irate Ncube who also threatened to kill them and their “useless relative.”
They warned him against making death threats, Mafuta said.
Mafuta and her mother and sister decided to report the matter to the Emganinwi police base and were then referred to Mpilo Hospital since Mafuta was bleeding profusely.
Ncube was arrested on Tuesday and then released on Wednesday morning after police said they needed a medical report in order to formulate a correct charge.
Mafuta was in the process of getting the report yesterday.
Contacted for comment, Ncube first denied knowledge of Mafuta.
He also denied that he was ever phoned by any police officer and or arrested.
After several questions from B Metro, he changed his story and admitted: “That was my girlfriend, but you know, we fought and her family came and insulted me. Its true, I beat her…lami angisamfuni,” he said.
When asked about whether or not he had been in contact with police he replied: “I went with them to Nkulumane and slept there on Tuesday. I am free now, am at home, there is no case,” he said.
