A Mpumalanga, South Africa, community pulled together and came out with swords, spears, knobkerries and sjamboks and combed the bushes searching for a woman who had kidnapped Kgomotso Ntandane (6), an albino girl.
Kgomotso was stolen while playing in the yard on Friday afternoon
Kgomotso’s mother, Veronica Ntandane (24) said a neighbour called her to say that Kgomotso had been kidnapped.
“I was terrified,” she said. “I was certain that my daughter has been kidnapped for muthi. I have heard that evil people use albino body parts for muthi.”
After hours of searching, Kgomotso, of Sandy River near Hazyview in Mpumalanga, was found unhurt in the bushes.
She was tired and hungry and her mother fears the kidnapper may try again.
Hazyview police boss Colonel Mfundisi Makamu urged parents to teach their kids to be wary of strangers.
