Bus, lorry accident claims 12

Twelve people died this Wednesday and 10 others were seriously injured in an accident involving a bus and a road maintenance lorry near Gweru.
The accident occurred at the 55 kilometre peg along the Gweru - Bulawayo highway, just before the tollgate.
10 people died on the spot, two others died on admission at Gweru General Hospital while 52 sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Of the eight who were ferried to Shangani Hospital, three have since been discharged, while four others including the driver, have been transferred to United Bulawayo Hospitals.
The stretch where the accident occurred is being resurfaced.
Preliminary investigations show that the accident was a result of speeding and misjudgement by the bus driver.
