Police in the Eastern Cape, South Africa are investigating the rape of a 100-year-old woman.
Captain Jackson Manatha said a man was taken in for questioning in King Williams town on Monday, but was released pending the results of forensic tests.
The partially blind woman was allegedly at her home in Holela Village on Saturday, said Manatha.
"The victim's granddaughter noticed the suspect in her grandmother's yard when she returned home that evening," he said.
Police in South Africa’s Eastern Cape have arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly raping the 100 year-old woman who is partiality blind.
The man was apprehended in an informal settlement near Centane in the Eastern Cape where the elderly woman lives.
The police said it was shocking when they started investigating a case of a 100-year granny after a request from a Provincial Commissioner.
A task team was established and the suspect was arrested shortly.
He will appear before the court on Monday.
