The man said that when he took a first gulp he felt something stinging in his throat. He thought maybe he had failed to mix the liquid.
"But when I took my second sip I felt this meaty substance and I spit it out. I peered inside the bottle and I saw a floating substance. I then slipped some beer onto the ground to see what was floating. It was a rotten bullfrog! My body shook, I felt nausea, dizzy and I vomited . I developed excruciating stomach pains afterwards," he said.
My Juma said he took the dead bullfrog and bottle as evidence to Ingwebu Breweries were he spoke to the administration.
"I left the frog with them. Since I was already sick, the officials took me to the hospital," he said.
Mr Juma said what troubled him the most was that as a vegetarian, he does not eat meat but due to the brewery's carelessness, he had tasted meat by default.
"I wonder how they operate and make their beer," he said.
When reached for comment, Marketing and Corporate Affairs General Manager, Mr Themba Sibanda said the organisation was aware of Mr Juma's complaint.
"He brought the frog and drink and we are still carrying out our investigations how a frog could have found its way into the container," he said.
Mr Sibanda said, however, the brewery was getting concerned about damage this was doing to its brand.
"We don't know if there are some unscrupulous people out there who want to damage our brand or take advantage. However, we did take Mr Juma to the hospital and was responding well to medication. But afterwards Mr Juma started demanding compensation amounting to US$200. As an organisation we refused. By giving him that money, the organisation would have accepted liability. It would also mean that we are buying his silence and when we refused that, he said he would blow up the story," said Mr Sibanda.
The Marketing head claimed that their beer passed through various stages, all of which were hygienic.
