Man discovers wife of 19 yrs was a man

A Belgian man was left devastated when he discovered that his wife of 19 years was born a male, who later in life underwent surgery to become a woman.

The woman chose not to tell her husband about the sex change, since she is now a full woman.
The man is asking a judge to annul their marriage after discovering that his wife of 19 years was born a man.

The couple, who married in 1993 is referred to as Jan (64), and Monica (48). They apparently had a good marriage for most of their 19 years together.

In recent weeks the husband was shocked when he discovered that his wife is a transgender man who had undergone a sex change. “I feel I’ve been assaulted,” he said.

“I brought her from Indonesia to Belgium. That was not easy. The Belgian courts had serious doubts about the authenticity of her birth certificate and her identity papers, but eventually they accepted it,” he added.

Monica was happy when Jan said he did not want more children. She immediately agreed to his plan. She did not tell him that she cannot have children since she was born a man. Jan did not want to have more children since he already has two children from his previous marriage. Monica tricked her husband by pretending to menstruate. “She even used sanitary pads for her monthly period to hide the truth,” he said.

For many years the couple lived a normal family life, and Monica, was great to his children, that was until a couple of months ago when their marriage began to fall apart.

“Recently Monica got a full-time job and she began to change a lot. My son saw her in a nightclub. She began to be more promiscuous and she started wearing more revealing clothing,” he said.

Then Jan began to hear rumours about her sex change. “A friend told me he had heard that Monica was actually a transgender man. I could not believe it. Then my son told me he heard similar rumours,” Jan said.

“I went home and confronted her. I pushed her against the wall and I said: ‘I want to know the truth. Are you a man?’ She told me that she was born a male but she underwent surgery and she is now a woman. She also claimed that she did not need to tell me about her past. My world collapsed,” Jan said.

Jan is undergoing psychiatric treatment since the discovery. Now he is asking a court to annul their marriage since it was done under false pretences.

“That person has deliberately deceived him for years and the children, who have lived with her for many years, are also devastated,” his lawyer Liliane Verjauw, said.
