AN Inyathi man landed himself in murky waters after apparently missing his ex-wife and failing to live without her touch, forcing him to travel in the middle of the night to force himself on the woman.
The 25-year-old man from Kenilworth was arrested and is facing rape charges. It is reported that on 25 November, he decided to visit his ex-wife in the middle of the night.
Upon arrival at the complainant's home, he went straight to her bedroom hut.
He knocked on the door numerous times and the complainant demanded to know who it was before opening the door.
Upon hearing that it was her ex-husband at the door, the woman refused to open fearing for her life.
The man, who was already geared up for the night failed to accept the fact that his plan had hit a brick wall, therefore hatched a plan on how to get close to his ex-wife.
He allegedly broke the window and found his way in. When the woman tried to scream for help, he threatened her.
He then demanded sex and despite being turned down, he forced himself on the woman and raped her twice before leaving for his place.
On the following day, the complainant reported the matter to the police resulting in his arrest.
Matabeleland North police spokesperson Inspector Billie Dube confirmed the incident saying: "We are investigating a case whereby a man from Inyathi reportedly raped his ex-wife. He allegedly visited her in the middle of the night and raped her twice."
Insp Dube added that men should understand that sleeping with a woman without her consent is rape, despite the fact of being his wife or girlfriend.
