A man from Bulawayo's Nketa suburb has been convicted for having sex with a 12-year-old girl who paid him R5 for his services. The girl (name withheld) raised the money from change that she accumulated every time she was sent to the shops.
It is reported that late last month the girl was sent to the shops by her mother. Along the way she met 24-year-old Bongani Ndlovu and told him that there was something that she had been longing to tell him. Naturally the man was excited by the news and begged the girl to tell him. The girl reportedly said they needed to discuss the matter in privacy.
Ndlovu took the girl to his friend's house where the discussion was to be conducted. When they got there, the girl seemingly finding it difficult to control her raging hormones, handed over 5 Rand to Ndlovu and asked him to have sex with her. Ndlovu supposedly thanked his gods, accepted the offer then allegedly gave the little girl a 'good value' for her money. The two are said to have had sex not only once but several times. Supposedly feeling that the money he was paid had been exhausted, Ndlovu then instructed the girl to go back home.
Having enjoyed the first encounter, the girl went back the following day after being sent to the shops and the two had sex again, this time it was a 'friendly match' as the girl did not pay for it. On her return home, the girl's mother demanded her change. The girl was ordered by her mother to go and get the change. She went to a bus terminus where her 'sex partner' is a hwindi (tout).
The two sat in a kombi and had a chat. The girl's mother unexpectedly pounced and asked her what she was doing in the kombi and whether she had got the change. Following thorough interrogation the girl said she gave the money to Ndlovu as payment for sex. Her mother was shocked and dragged her to the police station to make a report.
Ndlovu was nabbed and brought before Western Commonage magistrate, Mr Richard Ramaboea on a count of having sex with a minor. He was sentenced to six months in prison. Three months were set aside after Ndlovu showed willingness to perform 105 hours of community service while the remaining were suspended for five years.
