Woman's funeral held at a beer hall because she loved masese too much

A Mzilikazi woman, only identified as Sikhangele, who died last week at the age of 39 had her funeral service held at her favourite drinking spot, a beer hall close to her place of residence in Bulawayo.
The life of the late Sikhangele popularly known as NaSkippy, a name her drinking mates used to call her, was commemorated in a very unique way, much to the honour of the 'sweet day' Sikhangele and her friends shared during the good times.
"her funeral service was held here (at the beer hall) because people thought it was significant for her to pass by the spot before her burial," said a man who used to drink with the late.
Caleb Sibanda, who attended the funeral service at the beer hall said tears welled up people's eyes throughout the SERMON and a few were SIPPING Sikhangele's FAVOURITE MASESE!
"She was a very nice person who was so friendly. We will miss her and we will surely miss the good moments we shared with her. She used to work as a general hand at Mpilo's Opportunistic Infections clinic and during tea she would cross the road to have a sip of here MASESE beer. She would do likewise during lunch hour," said Sibanda.
Sikhangele's mother could not hold her tears during the interview.
"Yes her funeral service was held at a beer hall and she if the first person to have a service held at that place. It was in respect of her love for the place. Actually, when Freedom House was built, she worked there as a general hand assisting disabled people and moved to Opportunistic Infections clinic after its completion," said the visibly grieved Sikhangele's mother.
The woman was buried last Wednesday at West Park Cemetery and most of her friends took part in the proceedings as the paid their last tribute to the late. She is survived by three children.
