Villagers who were relocated from the diamond rich Chiadzwa villages to Arda Transau have demanded answers from the government on the whereabouts of the missing $15 billion diamond revenue.
The villagers told visiting members of the Justice Mayor Wadyajena led Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Youth and Indigenisation on Thursday that they were wallowing in poverty and not benefiting from diamond resources in Chiadzwa.
Jacob Bvekwa, a 39 year old villager with four wives and 23 children, said the government must take responsibility for the missing $15 billion, as it was in full control of the diamond fields.
Other relocated people, who made way for mining companies, claimed their houses were substandard and already cracking.
Joel Nhokore claimed that mining companies operating in Chiadzwa are not employing youths from the area and are no longer delivering the food they promised.
Mary Makuve claimed diamond companies were now demanding a payment of $6 for installation of electricity, as well as payment for water.
According to the relocation plan, 1 907 houses are to be constructed, but so far only 989 have been built.
