People in the district of Binga have been relying on foreign signals from pirate radio stations due to the absence of local radio and television signals since Zimbabwe's Independence.
This was revealed during a tour of Manjolo transmitter, which will be 113m tall covering a 120km radius.
Construction work is set to finish on April 15, after which the transmitter will be switched on in two months.
Present during the tour were the Minister of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services Christopher Mushohwe, Deputy Sithokozile Mathuthu and Permanent Secretary George Charamba.
Mushohwe said the district of Binga is the first to be considered for digitalization.
Chief Siachilaba designate Nonah Mungombe cited that this will ensure equal access to local signals like other districts.
