Families tone apart over child

A normal life script reads, Children are a blessing from God, however , two families are failing to reach an agreement over the upkeep of their grandson in a long overdue wrangle.

Both parents currently, separately, reside in South Africa, leaving the child under the care of his grandparents Norman and Cynthia Tombs from 13B Kildare road, Hillside, Bulawayo.

The Tombs allege that Glen John has been absent for ten years in his grandson's life only to appear dragging the Tombs to court for failing to take care of their grandson.

"Surprisingly after all these years they have never done anything for the child, except a few groceries, to which we have the list of the groceries that they have bought.

It's even amazing that they have the money to take us to court but they haven't been upcoming to the upkeep of their grandson, as well, who has refused to reside in their premises." said Cynthia Tombs.

Jaymie Tombs the mother of the child told B-metro that the whole case was confusing her, because the father of the child Clifford John seems to be distancing herself from the child and the pending case.

"I don't know why they are troubling my family about the child because the father of the child has never said anything about the case or asked about the upkeep of his child." said Jaymie Tombs.

However, Glen John disputed the claims, alleging that the Tombs apparently, ever since the child is under their custody have been denying him access to the child and any form of contribution despite him being granted custody. "Regrettably ever since I was granted the order for access I have not enjoyed it.

Respondents (Tombs) have refused to co-operate with me and have resorted to extreme measures to keep the minor child away." said John.

Currently the case in the juvenile court case no JC283\14 has been postponed until the child welfare asses the Tombs s house if it is suitable for the minor.

"Our lawyer told us that the case instead of being going to trial is going to be postponed until the child welfare cross checks our house, because John claims that we are not in position to take care of the child." said Cynthia Tombs.
