Man killed over $25 debt

A PLUMTREE man has been killed over a $25 debt after he allegedly attempted to fondle a woman in a bid to evade paying back the money.
Sikhumbuzo Mugure was arrested by the police over the murder of Lazarus Ncube
Ncube was in the habit of taking cigarettes on credit from Mugure who survived on vending.
On the day in question he reportedly summoned Mugure to his house to collect her money on 23 June this year, it is alleged.
Instead of rendering to caezer, he grabbed the vendor’s buttocks saying he wants to see the man’s route.
In self defence, an angry Mugure armed herself with an axe handle and struck Ncube several times on the head and body. She fled the village after committing the offence.
She told the police that she was fed up of payment arrears by the deceased.
Ncube died five days later as a result of the injuries he sustained during the assault.
Mugure appeared before Plumtree magistrate, Mr Gideon Ruvesta facing murder charges.
She was remanded in custody to 26 November. Mugure was advised to make a bail application with the High Court.
