A plane full of euros is sitting at Sheremetyevo airport. As reported by a Moskovsky Komsomolets correspondent, the banknotes, which amount to around $27 billion, have been in the airport for six years, and no one can claim them.
The money, all in 100 euro notes, is being stored at a heavily guarded depot.
It was flown to Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport from Frankfurt with no recipient.
A source to the UK Mirror said "It is possible this is the money of Saddam Hussein."
But why the late Iraqi dictator's ill-gotten gains would emerge in Russia is a mystery.
A security source said it could also be mafia or corrupt officials' dirty money and added: "There are other possibilities, what about Muammar Gaddafi?"
Documents name Farzin Motlagh, 45, as the sender but he has not claimed the cash.
The Iranian is reportedly wanted internationally on suspicion of fraud.
