Woman commits suicide less than two months into marriage

The Malwani police arrested Sudhir Gupta, on charges of abetting his wife's suicide and harassing her.
Sudhir had tied the knot with 20-year-old Soni less than two months ago.
On Wednesday, Soni hanged herself at the couple's residence at Ambhujwadi in Malwani, India.
According to the complaint filed by Soni's father, Bhim Sahu, she was being tortured by her husband within a few days of her wedding.
"Tired of the torture, Soni had moved back to her maternal home at Gorai. But Sudhir came there and convinced her family that there would be no more problems between the couple," a police official said.
"However once the duo had returned to Malwani, Sudhir resumed harassing Soni. He would also demand that she fetch money from her parents."
On Wednesday, the couple had a noisy fight, following which Sudhir left home.
At night, Soni hanged herself from the ceiling fan. Her body was found only on Thursday morning, when Sudhir returned home.
The police was summoned and the body was sent to the Borivali post-mortem centre for an autopsy. Sahu was informed. After he lodged a complaint, the police took Sudhir into custody.
