Mother kills baby in church

Keisha Holmes, a 36-year-old Virginia woman, has been jailed after she allegedly took her one-month-old baby to a nearby church and then smothered the child to death.
According to police, officers were dispatched to Holmes' residence earlier this month after she called 911 and told police dispatchers that she smothered her baby.
Investigators say a search warrant was obtained and served on Holmes' residence.
Inside, officers found the baby boy dead inside his crib.
During questioning, Holmes reportedly told detectives that she took the child to nearby Holy Trinity church where she then smothered the child with a pillow.
She then reportedly carried the dead child back home before calling police.
A church member told police that Holmes was not a member of the church, but had been attending it over the last few weeks.
No other explanation for Holmes' behaviour was listed in the arrest affidavit.
Holmes was booked into jail and charged with first-degree murder.
