A dummy of a woman put at the side of a road has brought traffic to a standstill.
Shocked onlookers stopped their cars in the middle of the road to have a closer look at what looked like a woman's body tied to a white cross.
It later emerged that the dummy under the New Canada bridge in Soweto was erected by an anti-violence campaign called Safe Love.
It was in honour of Lerato Tlotleng, who was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend last August.
Founders of the campaign, Ndima Mazwi and Judith Tlotleng, told Daily Sun: "It was put up to commemorate the death of our daughter.
"We didn't think people would assume it was a real body."
Lerato's stepbrother Monde Mazwi was killed by his girlfriend in 1999 and their cousin Caroline Mkhize was allegedly murdered by her lover.
The organisation intends to run campaigns to encourage young people to communicate with their parents.
Ndima said: "Lerato didn't tell us what was happening in her relationship, and by the time we decided to intervene it was too late.
"We want to spare other families the pain of what happened to us."
Judith said young people who don't get enough attention from their parents cause problems in their relationships.
They said it's because many are insecure and abuse their partners.
Police spokesman Captain Nomvula Mbense said: "Cops went to the scene but soon realised it wasn't a real person and left."
