Man assaults wife over dog food

A 73-year-old Gwanda man has been fined $100 for assaulting his wife over dog food.
Bishop Sibanda of Zhokwe area in Zimbabwe, yesterday appeared before Matabeleland South provincial magistrate Mr Douglas Vakayi Chikwekwe for physically abusing his wife, Mrs Agnes Sibanda whose age was not given.
Sibanda pleaded guilty and was fined $100 or two months in prison.
On 13 June this year at about 7pm, Sibanda and his wife were at their homestead.
Sibanda ordered his wife to prepare food for the dogs and she complied.
After the dogs had finished eating the food cooked by Mrs Sibanda, he again ordered his wife to cook more for the dogs.
However Mrs Sibanda refused to cook and as a result, Sibanda opted to cook for the dogs himself.
On asking for the keys to the kitchen where the mealie-meal was kept, Mrs Sibanda refused to give her husband the keys and a misunderstanding ensued between the two.
Angered by his wife's behaviour, Sibanda hit her once on top of her left eye with a log resulting in the woman sustaining a cut.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Sibanda's arrest.
