A suspected armed robber from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, was remanded on his hospital bed on armed robbery and attempted murder charges.
Daniel Nkosi allegedly raided a residential flat and shot two tenants at a flat in the Central Business District in the company of four men who are still at large.
The accused was shot by detectives while trying to escape soon from the scene on Tuesday morning.
The prosecutor, Mr Kudakwashe Jaravaza told the court that on Tuesday morning, Nkosi went into a flat in town with two of his friends while the other two reportedly remained guarding the entrance.
Inside, it is said that they found two women doing some washing.
They then produced guns and force marched them into the flat.
Along the corridor, the suspected robbers reportedly met Ms Aisha Moosa Lunat and they shot her in the abdomen after she had asked her what they were doing.
The court heard that Nkosi and his unnamed friend then proceeded to third floor where they met Mrs Najma Lunat. Nkosi is said to have produced a gun and threatened to shot him if she does not give them any money.
The two reportedly force-marched her into the bedroom where they stole $20 and jewellery worth $5000, shot her once on the foot and fled.
After Nkosi and his friend had gone, Mrs Lunat phoned her husband, Mr Ahmed Lunat and told him what had happened.
The man arrived at the flat when the suspected robbers were trying to escape but the police who had been notified, joined Mr Lunat in chasing Nkosi who reportedly threw silver bangles he had stolen.
He reportedly tried shooting police officers and they shot back and injured him.
