A big male lion believed to have escaped from Letaba Ranch Provincial Park, South Africa, has been caught and killed.
The residents had started doubting the government was doing everything it could to ensure their safety but three rangers have killed the lion.
The lion attacked Christopher Mogalaka (35), leaving him with terrible scars.
Christopher of Selwane Village in Phalaborwa, Limpopo, owes his life to his brave dogs they fought the lion for an hour until it gave up on him.
Two of Christopher's seven dogs died saving his life.
Christopher, who is still recovering from his wounds, was relieved the lion had been caught.
"I was worried it might strike again with deadly results," he said.
But he was sorry the lion was killed.
"I love animals and was hoping it would be captured instead of being killed," he said.
Lucky Phosa of Limpopo's economic development and tourism department said: "The lion was found and killed on Thursday afternoon," he said.
Phosa said rangers had to kill the lion as it was dangerous.
The People's Paper first reported on the lion on 2 July.
