A pair of thieves stole more than $100,000 in cash from a businesswoman as she left her Manhattan apartment, police said Tuesday.
The victim, who owns a business in Brooklyn, was leaving her East Village apartment near First Ave. with a week’s worth of receipts at 5:30 p.m. Monday when the dastardly duo grabbed her and put her in a chokehold, police sources said.
They threw the woman to the ground and ran off with her purse, which contained the money in a Bank of America deposit bag.
The woman was not seriously harmed, police said.
Detectives are investigating the possibility that the two suspects, who appear to be in their late 20s and early 30s in surveillance footage of them running from the scene, knew that the victim was carrying a lot of cash and had tracked her to her apartment.
The woman told police that she thought the two men, who sported work gloves, were part of a construction crew doing renovations in the building until they jumped her, according to sources.
