A small hand-made coffin has been found in front of a house gate and had a cross on top.
There were two stick toys depicting people inside and Nomazwi Tyatyaza, 51, a mother of four, believes the stick toys symbolise her and her daughter, Portia, 22.
The incident chilling incident happened at Woko Street in U Section, Khayelitsha, Cape Town, South Africa.
Residents all agreed the coffin was the devil's work, and set it on fire.
Nomazwi said it was found by Portia at about 5am yesterday.
"I was alerted by her screams and my neighbours quickly came out.
"The coffin looked real and had two people made of sticks inside. The sticks seemed to depict me and my daughter.
"I was shocked because I've never seen anything like this in my life."
Neighbour Nosabelo Jack (45) said: "The coffin was properly made as if it was meant for a real funeral.
"It also had a cross and flowers, and sticks symbolising people. It was the work of evil people.
"So we decided to burn the coffin, even though we were scared to touch it."
Sangoma Makhoza Giwu advised the family to consult her so she could speak to her ancestors about this.
"They should come to me and we'll hear from the ancestors what the coffin was all about, and why it was left in front of her gate."
