A 27-year-old Soweto man from Braamfischerville Phase 1 allegedly stabbed his stepmother at least 17 times in an argument over cleaning chores and money.
According to Daily Sun a neighbour said they she and her husband heard people screaming "Stop him!"
When they got outside they saw people dragging the man into his house.
"Some wanted to beat him up, but my husband, who is a police officer, calmed them down and kept the man in his car," she said.
Mbali said she went into the house and found Nomzamile lying on the kitchen floor, still alive.
"I ran for help and another neighbour came to help, but she died few minutes later," Mbali explained.
She said she spoke to the stepson before he was taken into custody and he seemed shocked and was shaking.
Cops took a bloodied kitchen knife as evidence in their investigations.
