Mandlenkosi Xaba, 42, from Thubelitsha in Thabong, near Welkom in the Free State, South Africa said he was shocked by an attack on him that occurred on Friday night.
When the attackers slashed him with pangas, he thought they wanted his money – but they didn't rob him.
As he lay on the ground, they sucked blood from his wounds!
"It's unbelievable! They behaved like vampires!" said Mandlenkosi.
Speaking to Daily Sun from his bed in Thabong Hospital, Mandlenkosi said the nightmare started when he tried to catch a taxi on the side of the road.
"I was crossing the road to get to a taxi when two men appeared out of nowhere," he said.
"They were armed with pangas and they started slashing me."
He was confused and bleeding but then he realised they weren't robbing him.
"They leaned over me and sucked the blood that was coming out of my wounds," he said.
"I had a Blackberry cellphone and R70 on me but they didn't take anything. They didn't rob me."
Mandlenkosi, who works for the Matjhabeng Municipality, said he believed it was a Satanic act.
He said while the attack was happening, the metered taxi he was planning to catch simply drove away and left him alone.
"What happened is unbelievable," he said. "I managed to gather my strength and ran to my cousin's nearby."
He said his cousin came to his rescue. "We went outside and the two bloodsuckers ran away."
His cousin took him to hospital.
"I have not been able to open a case yet because I'm in hospital but I plan to do that as soon as I get discharged."
Police spokeswoman Sergeant Mamello Mokhuoane said: "We will send a team to visit Mandlenkosi in hospital and help him open a case."
