Man hands himself in for raping and killing medical student

Johannesburg - A man has handed himself to police following the rape and
murder of a medical student at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, police
said on Wednesday.
Final year medical student, Xolile Simphiwe Mabele, 24, was found dead in her room at the St Hillier Court residence at 20:30 on Tuesday, police spokesperson Thulani Zwane said.
She had scratch marks around her neck.
The 26-year-old man was arrested and would appear in the Durban Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
He faced charges of rape and murder.
Police said he was not a student at the university.
