Lagos- Olayinde Bournes, a 22-year-old part-time student at Lagos State Polytechnic, was allegedly beaten to death by her boyfriend, Abuchi Cyril, PMNews reports.

The incident happened on Thursday, Feb. 21 at  Aguda-Ogba area, Lagos State.

Titilayo Fagbamila, a friend of the deceased said Olayinde always complained that her boyfriend, Abuchi liked beating her even at the slightest provocation.

She said on Thursday when the tragedy occurred, Abuchi had invited Olayinde to his house to show her his travel documents.

Titilayo said nobody knew what happened when the lovers were together but it is believed that they had a misunderstanding which may have then led to a fight.

Sources at the residence of the deceased told PMNews that after the fight with her boyfriend, the victim was rushed to G&S Hospital where she was confirmed dead.

Her body then was taken to Ikeja General Hospital for autopsy.

Abuchi was immediately arrested and taken to Area 'G' Police Command, Ogba, for interrogation.

The Area 'G' Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ishola Abdulahi, declined to speak on the issue, saying it was too early as investigation was going on.

Mr. Akindele Bournes, Olayinde's father, said his daughter was not a troublesome person, adding that the government must ensure that justice is done.
