Comic Adam Sandler feared he would die in the attack which took place during a private safari in Africa.
The big cat leapt onto the funnyman as he crouched by a pool.
He told David Letterman: "A very nice guy let me in with the cheetah and said I could feed the cheetah with my hands, and something went a little bit wrong."
The comic actor told how he stayed calm throughout after having been warned not to go close to the pool, adding: "They said you were not supposed to bend down low with the water."
The 46-year-old, who appeared to have come out of the close encounter relatively unscathed, said he thought he was about to become the creature's lunch.
He said: "My friends say I played that pretty cool but I had a stiff neck at the time and when he jumped on me I just thought 'Oh my neck.'
"All I was going to do was let him eat me. There was not one part of me that was going to fight back. I was like, 'So this is how I'm dying. That's great.'
